Olympics Vancouver

  1. Eric Says:

Didn’t they also build a brand new light-rail line from the airport to the center city? It was in the final stages of construction when I was there in May of last year.

  2. Brian Lang Says:

They built a medium-rail, mostly underground automated system from the airport to city centre.

  3. Brian Lang Says:

I have to add (now that I’ve viewed the photos) the following items that were built for the Olympics, but are not “official” Olympic projects:
    1. Sea-to-Sky highway improvements.
    2. Vancouver Convention Centre expansion.

    Also one issue:
Cypress is hard-pressed for snow this winter, and is trucking snow over 250km to the site and using helicopters to spread it. This to allow elite athletes the ability to compete in the Olympics. Not for the public. Not very sustainable.
