In a dispatch from the expanding war on cyclists and pedestrians, we’ve got evidence of how bad things are getting. We also offer a reminder of how those Danes get around, and a cyclists’ road-map to peace (in New York at least).

In a survey of three possible scenarios for the Copenhagen aftermath, a top climate negotiator says chances are slim for a global climate deal this year. Here goes another dip on the media’s Copenhagen roller coaster. (On that note, may we suggest a viewing of one of the best apocalyptic environmental films?)

Amidst all this fracas over SuperFreakonomics’ misguided attempts to be counterintuitive on climate change, it turns out that counterintutiveness isn’t quite dead after all: we look at how conservative values can serve liberal green goals.

A New York graphic designer is calling for less Marc Jacobs, more Jane Jacobs, while a graffiti artist is dropping green Banksy-esque knowledge all around Milwaukee. But he’s keeping his formula open-source and isn’t afraid to announce his real identity: he does his pieces in mud, not paint. Good thing that the graffiti artists’ gallery of choice, the alleyway, is a great way of reducing sprawl.

A town of 200 people in the jungles of Columbia has no guns, no police, no cars, no mayor, no church, no priest, no cellphones, no television, no Internet. But its solar energy, biofuel use and enormous reforestation project — and relatively high incomes — has caught the attention of people like Amory Lovins. Can Las Gaviotas survive the creeping influx of globalization and armed guerrillas?

Obama wants to sign legislation that will allow three wheeled vehicles to get funding from the Dept. of Energy. How long before we’re riding around in tricycle-like cars?

Meanwhile, the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) is about to agree on a standard for charging electric cars and plug-in hybrids. But what will it take to realize Obama’s dream ofone million plug-in vehicles on the road by 2015, really?

Planet Green’s Green Materials Guide offers a reminder that we shouldn’t just be thinking about clean energy in new house projects but our building blocks too.
