Based on the list of cuts we’ve received from various reliable sources, the Collins-Nelson amendment leaves transportation infrastructure unscathed. That’s a relief! Should it pass, and then the entire bill pass as thereby amended, the bottom line for transportation in my previous post would apply (with some possible additions, for example the Senate bill allows the highway funding to be “flexed” into intercity rail projects if recipients prefer; that’s change we can believe in).

Senate deliberations are slated to restart this very minute — 11 a.m. Saturday — so don’t touch that dial (unless you’re flipping to C-Span).
